Principe Felipe Auditorium

PRINCIPE FELIPE AUDITORIUM

The Auditorium-Congress Palace Principe Felipe opened in 1999 and is built on a former water tank, elements of which have been preserved inside the new building. Located in Fresno Square (formerly Gesta Square), the interior is in the classical style although all the necessary technical facilities have been added to cater for the needs of the promoters and organisers of events. The activities that can take place within the building have been temporarily restricted due to ongoing work to enhance the fire protection system.

The Auditorium-Congress Palace Principe Felipe is a building that appears larger on the inside and houses three large halls with stands and five conference rooms.

The Main Hall or Symphony Hall can accommodate up to 1,505 people. It has 705 seats in the main stalls and another 800 in the gallery. It also has a giant motorised projection screen, and its most valuable element is possibly its excellent acoustic quality. This room has a large protocol box with a gallery.

The Auditorium also has a Multipurpose Hall with 535 seats.

The Main Hall and Multipurpose Hall can be used separately, or they can be joined in such a way that the extended stage remains in the centre.

Downstairs, the Auditorium also has a Chamber Music Room, with a capacity for 404 people. Its size, the seating arrangements and the stone background of the stage make this room the most sought-after in the Auditorium.

Headquarters of the Orchestra of Asturias

The Auditorium-Congress Palace, as an auditorium, has an intense musical activity and organises three programmes dependent on the Municipal Culture Foundation that are extremely popular. The facility is also, by agreement, the official headquarters of the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra (OSPA), which has its offices here. The orchestra also rehearses and performs its concert season in the Auditorium.
