Oviedo, capital of Sport

The City Council of Oviedo is working to obtain the “City of Sport” label. In the meantime, the city is hosting world, national and regional competitions in its facilities, thus boosting the reputation of the capital of Asturias on the international stage.

In 2020, the city hosted, among others, the water polo match between the Spanish and Montenegro teams, the 3rd Long Distance Master Championship, and the Farinato Race. Events that demonstrate the high level of sports facilities in Oviedo, which are available to all citizens, whether they are professional athletes or amateurs.

Among the sports facilities you should visit during your stay in Oviedo, you must not miss Carlos Tartiere Stadium. Real Oviedo offers guided tours in Spanish, English and French. You can learn about the more than nine decades of the club’s history in a museum located on the ground floor of the stadium. The tour also takes you to the flash interview area, the press room, the executive box and the stands, the changing rooms and even the pitch.

Golf Course

The golf course is located in an area that is very close to the city centre but in the heart of nature, Las Caldas. It is next to the beautiful spa of the same name, which, together with Priorio Castle and Piñera Palace, form a trio of excellent architectural monuments to visit.

It has a driving range measuring approximately 14,000 m2, a 600 m2 putting-green, and an 18-hole course that is 6,532 m. long off the white tees and 5,456 m. long off the yellow tees, adding to the former a practice bunker and a 1,000 m2 putting green.
