Oviedo has extensive parks where children can enjoy themselves.
The lung of the city is Campo San Francisco, measuring 90,000 square metres, where tourists can view almost a thousand trees, some of which are centenarian, ornamental fountains, such as La Fuentona, the Fuente de las Ranas (Fountain of the Frogs) or the Caracol (Snail), monuments dedicated to José Tartiere, Clarín or Sabino Fernández Campo, and sculptures, such as those of La Torera or Mafalda, popular spots where people like to take photographs of their children.
You mustn't leave Campo San Francisco Park without trying one of the typical barquillos (wafers) or the tasty ice cream that you can buy in Paseo de los Alamos (Poplar Tree Walk). You can enjoy them while contemplating the mosaic on the pavement of this walk by the artist Antonio Suárez; while playing in some of the playgrounds; visiting the duck pond, or admiring the beauty of the stars of the park: the peacocks that roam freely around the area.
