PAREES FEST

 

Parees, Oviedo Mural Intervention Festival, is a cultural, social, and artistic event in which citizens and artists join forces to provide the city walls with a new look. In September Oviedo is full of colour.

The walls or "parees" (wall in Asturian) have always harboured stories because there is an innate need in people to express themselves on them. This is the reason we want to give prominence to walls on which artists have intervened. We speak of muralism because this concept encompasses all the techniques, styles and artistic expressions that walls can hold, always with a social commitment.

There are many techniques to intervene on walls; in this festival, we have chosen artists that represent some of them:

• Wall illustration
• Abstract intervention
• Graffiti
• Mixed technique
